UNC Service
With regard to committee work: I currently serve on the departmental Chair's Advisory Committee, have assisted with multiple departmental curriculum design committees, and served on the steering committee for the CAS Caucus. With regard to student mentorship, I routinely mentor several Covenant Scholars, Undergraduate Learning Assistants, and I serve as the faculty advisor for several student-run organizations.
Candidate Statement
I am most excited to be a part of the process of awarding honorary degrees and special awards for two reasons: first to learn directly from my colleagues on the committee, and to learn indirectly from expressions of gratitude toward those who have been nominated. Our community (both within and outside of the University) is rich with those who do good work. Highlighting that work not only rewards recipients, but also inspires others, including the members of the committee, who get to consider those good deeds. As a relatively junior faculty member, I also look forward to the opportunity to strengthen my partnerships across the university and learn from others on the committee.
