Candidate Statement

With appointments in three different humanities fields (English & Comp. Lit., Romance Studies, and Classics), I am especially well-positioned to understand and communicate the challenges faced by humanities scholars and humanities programs in higher education, and also to argue for the continued importance of the humanities in the UNC undergraduate curriculum. In my scholarship and teaching as well as in my intellectual leadership in my field (early modern studies), I have worked to support interdisciplinary scholarship (especially between science and the humanities), and to advocate for early career scholars in the humanities.
