UNC Service

My primary service to UNC have been as the Associate Director (2016-2021) and Director (2021-present) of the interdisciplinary Human Movement Science PhD program, a joint venture between the CAS and SOM. I continue to serve as the Faculty Advisor for the Interdisciplinary Health and Occupational Professionals student group. I have also served on the EXSS Athletic Training education working group (2018-2022) and the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee (2017-2023). I have served on Faculty Council and the Student Success Working Group at UNC Charlotte and as the Director of Athletic Training education at the University of Florida.

Candidate Statement

I am running for the Faculty Athletics Committee because I have a passion for improving the health and well-being of those involved in sport and physical activity. As a Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC), I have experience working in a collegiate athletics program and teaching athletic training students how to care for athletes at multiple universities with large athletic programs. I have also directly observed the unique challenges faced by student-athletes enrolled in my courses and involved with my research group here at UNC. These experiences have provided me with unique perspectives that I believe would help to further inform the development of strategies that would allow UNC student-athletes to achieve academically as well as competitively in a transparent manner.
