Candidate Statement

While I support many of the principles underlying IDEAs in Action, there are several areas of concern that the General Education Oversight Committee will likely need to address. For example, in my own department, the need to offer Triple-I courses, First-Year Launches, and First-Year seminars has stretched our faculty to the point where it is difficult to offer many of our elective courses. The Triple-I courses in particular present a particular logistical challenge, since they require coordination between multiple departments. The administrators of the Triple-I program are doing a Herculean job managing the program, and this committee should be ready to offer its input and support as needed. I would be honored to represent the Division of Natural Sciences and Mathematics on this committee and contribute to its important work.
