UNC Service

I am currently sitting on UNC's APT committee (2021-2024), am the DEI Liaison to the School of Medicine for Social Medicine, and sit on the faculty advisory board for the Department of Public Policy. Previously I have served on the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (2014-2023), the Hospital Ethics Service (2005-2015) where I was also co-director for education, and the Faculty Advisory Board for the Institute for Arts and Humanities (2017-2020). In addition, I have served in multiple departmental service roles both in Social Medicine and in the Philosophy Department where I am jointly appointed.

Candidate Statement

I believe that faculty are UNC's greatest resource and that no task is more important than maintaining rigor, appropriate standards, and high morale amongst campus faculty. Having served for three years on the university wide appointments, promotions, and tenure committee, I have gained significant understanding of the diversity of our faculty accomplishments and visions of departmental excellence. For this reason, and because I myself work across campus in both the School of Medicine and in the College of Arts and Sciences, I have a strong sense of what our standards are at UNC and a personal sense of mission that these standards are applied fairly and taking all relevant factors into account.
