Candidate Statement

The work of the libraries is vital to the research, education and service mission across the University and it is essential that the faculty advising the library provide diverse perspectives in order to help it fulfull its sprawling mandate. I am in a good position to represent the natural sciences within this body, as someone who frequently works across disciplines and is familiar with the variety of needs of the community, and is someone who has been active in issues of open scholarship and the sustainability of digital scholarly resources. I would also strive to be an ambassador for what the libraries offer to the natural sciences community at UNC, to help ensure they are used to their full potential.
