UNC Service
I have served as the Chair of the Department of Women's and Gender Studies since 2020. Other significant service roles I have held or currently hold include: Latina/o Studies Advisory Board, Chancellor's Advisory Committee (2018-2020), Grievance Committee (2015-2018), Critical Ethnic Studies Collective Board, WGST Diversity Liaison and Founding Director of the WGST Graduate Certificate Program.
Candidate Statement
I am running for a position on the Committee on Appointments, Tenure, and Promotion because I know how important tenure and promotion decisions are for individual faculty as well as our University and profession as a whole. I will bring with me significant experience with the tenure and promotion process at UNC - I have personally moved from an untenured Assistant Professor through tenure and promotion to Full Professor at this University and have also overseen tenure and promotion cases as a Department Chair. Moreover, I have a long-standing commitment to and appreciation for the importance of diversity, equity, and inclusion as well as a strong belief in the role of faculty governance for higher education.
