UNC Service

From 2015 to 2018, I served on the advisory committee for Academic Support Program for Student-Athletes (ASPSA). In this position, I participated in hiring the program's current director, Michelle Brown, and I assisted in developing strategies to enhance the experiences of our student athletes and their academic excellence. From 2018 to 2021, I served on the Special Talent Committee for Undergraduate Admissions. We review special talent admissions cases and advice the Vice Provost for Undergraduate Admissions on the potential for special talent applicants to succeed at UNC-Chapel Hill.

Candidate Statement

I am running for this position to help maintain the high academic integrity and superior athletic tradition of UNC-CH. Since arriving here in the fall of 1995, I have witnessed glorious changes such as the built-up physical infrastructure for our athletic programs. I have also witnessed many exciting moments such as women's soccer and men's basketball championship wins. However, I have also witnessed significant challenges in our athletics programs and how the University continues to overcome those challenges. If elected, my top priorities will be to enhance the academic integrity and athletic experiences of our student athletes. As a judicial scholar who teaches courses on constitutional law and judicial process, I will rely on my knowledge of the law to give sound advice and counsel to the Athletics Director and Chancellor.
