UNC Service

In Kenan-Flagler, I currently serve as chair of the Management & Corporate Communication area, chair of the Fixed-Term Faculty Promotion Committee, & member of the Masters of Accounting Academic Ineligibility Committee. I also have served the University in the following capacities: UNC Faculty Council (2009-2012), UNC Council Committee on Fixed-Term Faculty (2010-2012), UNC Roysters Faculty Society of Fellows Faculty Board and Award Selection Committee (2003-2011), Life Takes Guts student group faculty advisor (2001-2010), Kappa Delta Sorority faculty advisor (2000-2005, 2007-2009), & UNC Chancellor's Award Selection Committee (2003-2004) .

Candidate Statement

I grew up appreciating the student-athlete experience and the culture of college sports administration. At AppState, my father is a professor emeritus in accounting, served 17 years as the men's head tennis coach, and worked 23 years in athletics administration, including serving as director of athletics. Because Dad made a point of teaching at least one course every term even with all of his roles in athletics, I learned from him the value of the student-athlete/teacher-coach mentality. I've taught 24 years with UNC and channel Dad’s passion for the unique role of student-athletes in a university setting. I'm running for the Faculty Athletics Committee because I believe in excellence in the classroom and on/in the field-court-pool-track-course-mat. If elected, I would be honored to serve our student-athletes, UNC Athletics, and UNC.
