I am currently Chair of the Department of Anthropology and Interim Director of the Center for Galapagos Studies. I lead the Development Core at the Carolina Population Center and co-direct a T32 training program. At the College level, I served on the Arts and Sciences Advisory Committee and am currently serving as the Social Science representative on the General Education and Oversight Committee. I have previously served on Faculty Council and on a number of College committees, including the planning committee for the Ideas in Action Curriculum and Data Science minor.
Candidate Statement
I am running for a second term on the General Education Oversight Committee as the Social Science representative. This committee plays an important role in providing the faculty with a voice in the Ideas in Action Curriculum and making sure that it meets the needs of our students and faculty. I bring a dual perspective to this position from my role as a department chair who understands the challenges of course scheduling and meeting the multiple curricular needs placed on our departments and also a faculty member dedicated to providing students with a well-rounded liberal arts education.
