Besides my role as Professor of Economic Development in the Department of City and Regional Planning, I serve as Associate Chair of Diversity and Inclusion in the department and as Director of the Modern Indian Studies Initiative at UNC. I am also a member of the Strategic Advisory Committee of the Carolina Asia Center, and have affiliations with the program in Global Studies and Asian Studies. I serve on the mentoring committee of junior faculty in my department and have served on the Chancellor's committee on Labor standards and procurement in the past as well as an ad hoc member of the College's curriculum review committee.

Candidate Statement

Academic excellence, fairness, inclusion and recognition of true merit and signifiers of impactful contributions of our faculty represent, to me, foundational values for an excellent institution of higher learning. As a member of the Arts and Sciences Advisory Committee for the Social Sciences I will uphold these values and will strive to bring transparency, rigor as well as fairness to the committee's deliberations.
