UNC Service

Since returning from a rotation as a program director in NSF's Computer and Information Sciences and Engineering (2015-2018), most of my service has been in the COMP department (undergraduate curriculum and planning committee) as we dealt with the explosive growth in our undergraduate majors. I'm also on committees in the new School of Data Science and Society, to which I've been appointed half-time to serve as the liaison to COMP.

Candidate Statement

I am from a family of teachers, so find great fulfillment in learning and inspiring and equipping others. The constant changes during the pandemic forced all of us to put in extra energy; in computer science, the was compounded by our explosive growth in the undergraduate major population. The rapid rise of generative AI will continue to force innovation. As computer scientist, I'm always looking to optimize the systems I'm involved with, and an academic, I'm always optimistic when I'm learning new things.
