Candidate Statement

Librarians are my favorite people on campus because they are curious, generous and, extend themselves to support our community. Our extraordinary librarians have contributed to Carolina's educational success by not only supporting the University's intellectual mission and facilitating faculty research, but they are constantly learning themselves --adapting to new technologies and sadly, many resource limitations. Thus, it is critical to fund our librarians and libraries so that we all can be competitive in a global intellectual space. Our libraries and those who make them invaluable through their work cannot thrive without a strong financial foundation, which I would advocate for because we cannot be a 21st century beacon without our libraries.
