UNC Service

My service to UNC-CH is largely concentrated in the areas of student/trainee mentorship and research support. Since 2017, I have served as co-Director of the UNC SPIRE IRACDA postdoctoral fellowship program, as well as a member of the UNC Neuroscience Curriculum Student Mentoring and Oversight Committee, and a mentor with Carolina Covenant. Since 2013, I have served on 30 neuroscience dissertation committees and 13 undergraduate Honors thesis committees. I have served as a member of the UNC IACUC committee since 2016, and as a member of the UNC Laboratory Chemical Safety Committee since 2014.

Candidate Statement

As a member of the UNC-CH faculty since 2013, I have developed a deep appreciation and regard for the value of our community of students, trainees, staff, and faculty. I would like to represent the faculty of the College of Arts and Sciences in an effort to enhance this community, through both the legislative and advisory roles of the Faculty Council. With respect to educational policies and undergraduate education, I am particularly interested in supporting curriculum and practices that will advance the highest standards, and that will most effectively prepare our students for personal, professional, and academic success in an evolving world and workforce. I will bring to the role both creative thinking and a pragmatic approach, and a commitment to prioritize the wellness and wellbeing of the students we are entrusted to educate.
