Candidate Statement

I served on the Faculty Grievance Committee from 2016 to 2022 and was Co-Chair from 2020-2022. I enjoyed my work on the Committee and the opportunities I had to help help colleagues across campus resolve or come to peace with conflict. As a lawyer and law professor who teaches domestic and sexual violence as well as trauma-informed legal skills, I have to be a good listener, and I believe I brought that to the Grievance Committee in the past and would do so again if elected. Additionally, this past year, I have been speaking with faculty across campus about the future of the Carolina Women’s Center, and I have been given a new perspective on the status of women and fixed-term faculty in particular. I would welcome the opportunity to bring this new view of our community to the Grievance Committee.
