I was invited to teach a playwriting class in Spring 2005 and gradually added classes in play analysis, dramaturgy and collaboration. I have served as dramaturg on 17 PlayMakers productions and directed 3 shows with Kenan Theatre Company; 2 of my plays have been performed in the Dept. of Dramatic Art. I have served on faculty search committees and co-chaired a departmental curriculum review. I currently serve on our AEDI committee and also as a faculty advisor and a departmental OUR liaison. Like many of you, I mainly serve by getting to know students and, by means formal and informal, helping them on their way.

Candidate Statement

What I would hope to bring to the faculty council is what I value most: community and harmony. I spend my time, in life and work, striving to build community and foster hope. Our campus is beautiful, idyllic. So many of the ambitions of our people are concentrated on bettering the world and in a myriad ways. This is marvelous. There is a shared vision many people have of a campus where people of all backgrounds--students, staff and faculty--feel embraced, valued, and part of one Carolina home. This is what I'd like to see. What I have for qualification and experience is three decades of trying, as an individual and as part of groups of varying sizes, to make the human garden grow.
