UNC Service
I serve as Chair of the Department of Genetics since 2018. Before I served as Interim Chair and Associate Chair for Research. Genetics is the largest basic science department in the SOM with over 75 primary faculty. We rank 3rd among departments of genetics in the country based on NIH funded and we are top one among public universities. In that position my priorities have been to provide a supportive and inclusive environment for faculty, staff and trainees and to align closely with the SOM mission of serving the people of North Carolina.
Candidate Statement
I believe that my combined experiences as teacher, researcher and administrator provides me with a strong basis to serve effectively in the Financial Exigency and Program Change Committee. My focus will be to ensure that UNC remains true to our mission as a public university and that the voice of Health Affairs faculty is heard.
