Candidate Statement
I am excited about this opportunity to serve UNC as a member of the Honorary Degrees and Special Awards Committee. My work with public officials and graduate students from North Carolina and beyond has enabled me to discover and understand the unique ways that people provide transformational leadership within their communities of all sizes and types. Through my teaching, research, and efforts to assist public officials with economic and community development, I have cultivated a special appreciation for how exemplary leadership makes a difference in people's lives. This background and experience prepare me well to help select individuals for whom the university will bestow honorary degrees and awards in recognition of their distinguished contributions.
