UNC Service

I have served the UNC campus community as a teaching scholar aimed at facilitating student empowerment and success. I have participated in the UNC World View program as a colleague and mentor to support faculty members serving at community colleges in North Carolina. I have served as a member of the Policy and Planning Committee in African, African American, and Diaspora Studies since 2022 and previously served as a member of the Colloquium Committee with the charge of planning and promoting interdisciplinary exchanges for undergraduates, graduate students, and faculty with interests and intellectual connections to the African diaspora.

Candidate Statement

I am deeply committed to connecting classrooms across the college beyond the courses that I teach. I hope to further serve students at UNC through participation on the General Education Oversight Committee by advocating for robust support of humanistic inquiry in the IDEAS in Action curriculum and through attention to policy development and implementation. Fixed term and tenure track faculty invest heavily in instructional roles at every level across the University and helping shape policy directives reflective of instructor and student needs will center my work as a General Education Oversight Committee member.
