Candidate Statement

I'm profoundly concerned over recent attacks on academic freedom and faculty governance at UNC—both obvious threats and more insidious erosions. We've all seen the damage these attacks have had on the prestige and reputation of our university. I, like many others, have also seen the personal harm and hurt they have inflicted on individual members of our community. At this time, our faculty needs strong representation at all levels—voices willing to speak courageously in favor of the integrity of our shared decision-making power in areas including hiring, promotion, curriculum, and inclusion and equity efforts. I hope to add my voice to the Faculty Council.
