UNC Service

Joined UNC faculty as a tenured Professor in 2006. At the time, the newly appointed Chair recruited me as Vice Chair of the department and Director of the Division of Maternal and Fetal Medicine. I served in these roles and as the Director of the Center for Maternal and Infant Health for thirteen year. Our MD faculty and fellows doubled in numbers, we opened two additional off campus clinic, tripled our patient visits, incorporated APPs into the clinical team while advancing the academic mission and growing our NIH funded research portfolio. Currently my efforts are focused on public health, health policy and clinical care.

Candidate Statement

Fellowship trained at UNC ('89-'92), MPH graduate of the School of Public Health ('91), fourteen years on faculty in leadership in the School of Medicine, parent to two graduates of our undergraduate school (2014 and 2018), I am well prepared to represent many several aspects of this great university. I have lived through a period in our school's history where women have emerged as leaders and where family oriented men and women have been recognized for their contributions in living this integrated lifestyle. In my work at the University and in public health, I have demonstrated commitment and inspired others in the care of the people of North Carolina. If I can further that purpose as a member of the faculty council, I would be pleased to serve.
