Candidate Statement
Serving on the Faculty Executive Committee would give me the opportunity to further exercise the skills I’ve gained in administrative appointments in my home department and several positions in Faculty Governance over the last eighteen years. During the two terms I served on Faculty Council, I was especially active on questions of academic freedom and adequate representation in Faculty Governance. My commitment to UNC stretches across several disciplines: besides my appointment in Romance Studies, I have an adjunct appointment in English and Comparative Literature and as Affiliate Faculty in American Studies; I’ve served on the Academic Advisory Boards of the Ackland Museum and the Minor in Global Cinema. If elected to the Faculty Executive Committee, I would put to work my long experience with important aspects of the University.
