Candidate Statement

I want to serve on the Faculty Athletics Committee to help the university make informed decisions in a rapidly changing college athletics environment. My primary goal will be to maintain the overall quality of our athletics program in a manner that is consistent with the academic mission of the university and that meets the highest standards of integrity. The fast-paced changes (e.g., conference consolidation, NIL, transfer portal) in college athletics pose a number of ethical challenges for our university, particularly in terms of integrating the interests of academics and athletics, while maintaining the overall well-being of student-athletes. My research, teaching, and service in the areas of organizational strategy, communication, and ethics will serve as the basis of my efforts to balance the diverse needs of multiple stakeholders.
