UNC Service
I have served one year as a fill-in Faculty Council member some years ago, but otherwise have not served in campus-wide positions.
Since I have been ay Carolina for almost 30 years, it's time to fulfill my responsibility and serve on some campus-wide committees.
Candidate Statement
I have been at Carolina for almost 30 years, and collaborated with faculty across campus in both the College and Arts and Sciences, and Medical and Dental Schools. This provided me broad perspective over many research areas. My research activities included both fundamental science in my earlier yeas in Carolina and applied science in recent years. Together with my colleagues we have pioneered the nano scale science and technology at UNC, and were able to bring the results of basic research to technology fruition including invention of several x-ray imaging systems that are been tested in UNC Hospitals and Dental Clinics. Our series of inventions have also led seeded several start-up companies in RTP area, thus I am familiar with many challenging issues faced by research and entrepreneurship.
