I am currently serving a second term as a member of the Administrative Board of the College of Arts and Sciences and General College. I have served two terms as the Faculty Advisory Board for the Study Abroad Office and currently sit on the Global Partnership Roundtable as well well as the Ackland Museum Academic Advisory Committee. Within my unit, I have served over the years as its Director of the Elementary Language Program, the Director of Undergraduate Studies and the Director of Graduate Admissions, among other roles.

Candidate Statement

I am scholar of twentieth- and twenty-first century German literature. My research is largely focused on modern and contemporary literature's relationship to media and social theory and philosophy. Since joining the faculty in 2002, I have served extensively within my department and on campus-wide committees. Were I elected to the Faculty Council to represent tenured faculty in the Division of Humanities, I would focus my energies on the future stewardship and health of the humanities at Carolina. What are the humanities, where are they, why are they vital to the University's health, and how they are supported and productively integrated throughout Carolina, these are some of the essential concerns that would inform my involvement on the Faculty Council.
