  • Department of Romance Studies
  • Appointed: 2022

UNC Service

As a junior faculty member teaching Spanish in the Romance Studies Department, I have developed and implemented new curriculum in our Translation and Interpretation Minor. In addition, I served on a hiring committee my first year, alongside teaching 2 newly developed courses and developed and taught a third new course based upon my research interests for Fall 2023 to complement courses already taught in my department. I have been active in student-facing extracurricular activities sponsored by my department, which have included participation in fairs and afternoon tertulias intended to engage students in conversational Spanish practice.

Candidate Statement

As an Assistant Teaching Professor in the Romance Studies Department, I grasp the needs of our community. My ultimate goal is to be a voice for the myriad issues faced by the UNC-Chapel Hill community and represent our faculty to the UNC system. To this position, I bring the ability to bridge perspectives from tenure-track faculty and teaching track faculty as an active listener and problem solver. From my previous leadership roles at the University of Kentucky, I developed a better understanding of the work required to better manage challenging situations: actively listening to others, collaborating with colleagues of different backgrounds, experiences and opinions, problems solving and achieving effective resolutions.
