UNC Service
I serve as the Chief of the Division of Surgical Oncology, and the Vice Chair of Strategy and Outreach in the Department of Surgery. I have leadership roles in the NC Cancer Hospital, including the multidisciplinary oncology programs and DEI programs. From a research perspective, I have been involved in translation research, clinical trials, and serve as the Clinical Director of the Tissue Procurement Core Facility of the Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center. Finally, I initiated and serve as the Program Director of the Fellowship in Complex General Surgical Oncology. I have previously served on the Post-Tenure Review Committee of the SOM.
Candidate Statement
As a senior member of the Department of Surgery, who has been active in the clinical/research/educational/administrative missions of the School of Medicine, I hope my involvement would continue to foster faculty that are regional and national leaders, are productive and accomplished, foster wellness and diversity, and contribute to the collegial environment of this institution. I believe that there are only several meaningful ways to reward faculty for their work and contributions to the institution, but Promotion and Tenure is clearly one of the most important tangible ways. This committee is critical, and needs to conduct the reviews in a fair, comprehensive, timely, and unbiased manner.
