Candidate Statement
My desire to serve on the Faculty Athletics Committee is rooted in service and to get more involved in the UNC-Chapel Hill community. Prior to joining the faculty at UNC-CH I served 27 years in the US Army as a Primary Care Sports Medicine physician. Along with being an active clinician, I served as a strategic level advisor to multiple General Officers working to solve complex issues. I served as one of the medical directors for the Armed Forces Sports program which oversaw the health and wellness of our athletes who competed in international, Olympic sports. I bring many years of experience as a member of multidisciplinary teams whose role was to advise leaders on challenging topics. It is about service and being part of something bigger than yourself and this will be an opportunity to give back to the University would be a privilege.
