UNC Service

The majority of my efforts as an assistant clinical professor are devoted to the success of the UNC SOM faculty Audiology clinic and its dual mission of graduate clinical education and patient care. I specialize in hearing care for adults. During my 5 years as clinic manager, the UNC HCC underwent several significant improvement projects. In the last two years, I have pivoted my clinical effort to man a satellite clinic in Hillsborough. With the clinic as my classroom, I model compassionate, research-based aural rehabilitation to my graduate students. When not in the clinic, I also teach 3 academic courses and 2 labs in our doctoral program.

Candidate Statement

As a representative of Allied Health Sciences, I believe I would provide a unique voice to the School of Medicine's representation on the Faculty Council. Non-physician rehabilitative services are an important part of healthcare and I would be honored to add my voice to the interdisciplinary mission of UNC School of Medicine. I have collaborated in previous interdisciplinary initiatives, including combined Duke/UNC professional development sessions and the Passing the Torch program on medical humanism. Everyone, patients and clinicians alike, benefits from a body of medical educators that work together for a common goal. I demonstrate strong leadership through my previous role as clinical manager of our nationally recognized faculty Audiology clinic and I value respectful and thoughtful teamwork.
