UNC Service

For almost 7 years, I have served as a faculty clinician and clinic manager at the UNC Hearing and Communication Center, a community centered Audiology clinic. I provide diagnostic and treatment services for adults with hearing loss, specializing in hearing technology. Rarely do I see patients without the dual purpose of precepting graduate students in our doctoral program. With the clinic as my classroom, I model compassionate, research-based aural rehabilitation to my students and help them grow as clinicians. I also teach and co-teach our Au.D. program's two hearing technology courses and their corresponding labs.

Candidate Statement

As a representative of Allied Health Sciences, I believe I would provide a unique voice to the School of Medicine's representation on the Faculty Council. Non-physician rehabilitative services are an important part of healthcare and I would be honored to add my voice to the interdisciplinary mission of UNC School of Medicine. I have collaborated in previous interdisciplinary initiatives, including combined Duke/UNC professional development sessions and the Passing the Torch program on medical humanism. Everyone, patients and clinicians alike, benefits from a body of medical educators that work together for a common goal. I demonstrate strong leadership through my role as clinical manager of our nationally recognized faculty Audiology clinic and value respectful and thoughtful teamwork.
