UNC Service

I am a current faculty member at the School of Social Work specifically serving in the Field Education office, overseeing MSW field placements in adult mental health and substance use, and teaching direct practice courses. Since my appointment in 2018, I have worked to create partnerships with schools and departments across campus which provide opportunities for social workers to operate in collaboration with other disciplines to achieve optimal outcomes for UNC students. I have also served on committees in the School of Social Work, including the Committee on Students (2019-present) and Direct Practice Curriculum Committee (2018-present)

Candidate Statement

As a professor and licensed social worker, I am guided by a code of ethics which promotes integrity, competence, and dignity and worth of all persons, among other principles. Such characteristics, I believe, are crucial to a body tasked with weighing matters which impact not only the individuals before it but the university as a whole. It is vital, then, to have a committee that reflects the guiding principles of UNC: shining a light on concerns of faculty and fostering a space where they feel the freedom to share those concerns and know they will be honored. I would consider it a privilege to participate in such a process that allows voices to be heard and matters to be resolved in a fair and equitable manner.
