UNC Service

Since arriving at UNC-CH in 1987, I have had the privilege of serving the university in various leadership roles. I have served as the Director of Psychology and Director of Child Neuropsychology at the Carolina Institute for Developmental Disabilities (CIDD), Associate Director of the CIDD, and Interim Director of Frank Porter Graham Child Development Institute. I currently serve as the Associate Dean of Medicine and Chair of the Department of Allied Health Sciences in the School of Medicine, and have served on the Provost's Task Force for to examine current APT policies. I also have been the SOM representative on the UNC-CH APT Committee.

Candidate Statement

For the past 3 years, I have had the privilege to learn about the various appointment, promotion, and tenure policies across all of the university schools and departments. This has been a significant learning experience. Since I was involved in the Provost's Task Force that examined APT policies, I also would welcome the opportunity to see how these suggestions are implemented in the form university business of promotion and tenure across all university units. Further, it will be important to see how these changes impact such critical matters as diversity and inclusion in our faculty ranks for both new hires as well as our current rank and file faculty. I have enjoyed working on this multidisciplinary committee and have welcomed the different voices from each unit, and hope to continue supporting the university's efforts in the APT arena.
