Candidate Statement

In 30+ years of teaching, I've focused on the intellectual project of building students' academic skills in the area of research-writing. In addressing this charge, I've taken on the role of mentoring faculty across the Arts and Sciences, building programs that address student learning, and the design of multiple assessment projects that examine the efficacy of various curricular models. I've also been deeply committed to issues of equity, with both students and faculty and have worked to mentor countless colleagues across the university on teaching methods. My work also focuses on addressing issues of parity for teaching faculty while supporting their work through mentorship and advocacy. If elected, I will also use my years of work in programmatic assessment to critically examine issues of curricular efficacy and the role of AI.
