Candidate Statement

The Financial Exigency and Program Change Committee is an extremely important committee that we hope never has cause to meet. If it does need to meet, I have the necessary expertise, experience, values, and commitment to serve effectively. My graduate training is in educational psychology, specifically the science of learning, applied to higher education settings. I have spent the last 16 years here at UNC developing a line of scholarship on how to help students self-regulate their learning across multiple contexts (e.g., in-class instruction, online instruction, online independent learning tools). Also, I have served as Associate Dean of Academic Affairs in my unit and several other administrative positions. Finally, I am deeply committed to UNC and its success.
