UNC Service

I have been involved in clinical service and research at UNC since 2006. Formal service to UNC has included serving on the committee to facilitate reopening of research at UNC during the COVID pandemic, and serving on search committees for positions at UNC. For the past 18 years, I have provided both inpatient and outpatient care, and conducted research which has included clinical trials, investigator-initiated studies, and translational research. I am eager to translate my varied experiences to support other faculty, with a mindset of how things are evolving in clinical practice as well as new and old challenges in research.

Candidate Statement

I have been on the fixed term track, and recently approved for tenure track, so would bring the experience of both to this position. I believe my many years of varied clinical service, in addition to varied research roles, provide me with a broad and detailed understanding of the strengths and challenges we bring in our roles as faculty. I have led investigator initiated studies and large network trials, collaborated with public health institutions, started clinical programs to address gaps, and more recently collaborated with basic scientists to get closer to an HIV cure. I hope to use my experience and what I have learned to advocate for the different and meaningful ways that faculty enrich and advance all aspects of what we do.
