UNC Service

I take seriously and appreciate the importance of service to the Department of Music, to UNC, and to the profession, and thus look forward to opportunities to continue serving. The following is a selected list of my service to UNC since 2019:
Department Chair, Co-Director of Graduate Admissions, Undergraduate Admission and Scholarships, Scholarships, Awards, and Student Aid Committee (UNC), Humanities for the Public Good Steering Committee, Nominating Committee, Administrative Board (The Graduate School), and Faculty of Color/Indigenous Faculty Group, Institute for the Arts and Humanities.

Candidate Statement

I am running for membership on the Arts and Sciences Advisory Committee representing faculty in the Division of Fine Arts. My most relevant experience supporting my preparation to serve was as Chair of the Department of Music (2020-2023). As chair, I oversaw all tenure appointments, reappointments, and promotion reviews, my responsibilities to which I brought attention to detail, comprehensiveness, and transparency. As a member of the Council of Chairs I collaborated with my colleagues in, among other things, advocating for changes to how the College administers cluster hires in ways that enable departments to have a more transparent and active role in the Dean's office's selection and approval of cluster hire positions. I look forward to amplifying transparency and fairness to the work of the Arts and Sciences Advisory Committee.
