In 2022 I was the UNC representative for the external review of the Department of Dramatic Arts. University-wide, I currently serve on the Scholarship Committee and recently served on the Educational Policy Committee. Within the Department of Music, this is my third year as Associate Chair for the Performance/Composition/Music Education division, ninth year as director of the Kenan Music Scholars program, and fifth year as co-chair of our undergraduate Scholarship Committee.
Candidate Statement
Within the Department of Music we have an advisory council made of a representative group faculty elected by our divisions and partly appointed by the chair. Having served on this committee, I have witnessed the benefits of examining problems and workshopping solutions with a group of faculty who bring perspectives different from my own. Perspective, empathy, and advocacy lead to meaningful conversations, as opposed to the echo chambers I often find myself in. I look forward to the opportunity to serve our faculty--within the Fine Arts Division, but also campus-wide-- through the Faculty Council.
