Candidate Statement

I came to UNC-CH as an associate professor w/tenure in 2004 and was promoted to full professor in 2010. I am a craniofacial genetics researcher by training and have engaged in research and teaching throughout my career at UNC-CH. Developing the next generation of researchers is important and to help I have mentored undergrad, PhD, and DDS students; postdoctoral research fellows; and faculty as they develop their research skills. I served as the Associate Dean for Research in the Adams School of Dentistry from 2012 to 2019 and was founding chair of the Department of Oral and Craniofacial Health Sciences in the Adams School of Dentistry from 2018 to 2020. I seek membership to the Faculty Hearings Committee to serve the university on matters related to the scope of the Faculty Hearings Committee charge and the importance of due process.
