I have served as the Medical Director of the UNC Medical Center Cytopathology Laboratory for nine years. I addition, I serve on the UNC School of Medicine Committe for Appointment, Promotion and Tenure for Professors in the tenure track.
Candidate Statement
The Faculty are one of the elements essential to the success of the sophisticated educational and instructive missions of our university. It is inevitable that within a large, complex organization there will be conflicts and disagreement. Faculty members that find themselves in contentious situations with other faculty, the University or its representatives, have few options for conflict mitigation or resolution. One of the options available to us is the Grievance process. As a member of the Faculty Grievance Committee I would work with the other members to assist individuals as they attempt to reach appropriate resolution or outcome. My intention is to treat individuals and entities with dignity and respect as they maneuver through a process that may be difficult and uncomfortable.
