Candidate Statement

My goal is to become more actively involved in the governing body to support and help to develop new strategies that will ensure that UNC stays at the forefront of education, research and healthcare. A few items I consider important:
Despite heightened emphasis on integrity, wellness, DEI, all too often decisions are delayed due to administrative hurdles, and are guided by money and politics.
To adapt to the new face of science and to stay competitive, we may have to develop graduate courses that span graduate groups (e.g., statistics, intro to bioinformatics, scientific writing).
We need more efficient and faster ways to hire and retain staff.
It is my belief that you cannot complain if you are not willing to help introduce change, hence my willingness to serve on this council.
