UNC Service

I co-direct the Center for Health Equity Research, overseeing the research portfolio and educational programs focusing on disparity research. I am an Advisory Board member for UNC Rural Initiative. I serve on multiple faculty search committees, including the five-year review committee for Dr. Stephanie Davis and the Department of Pediatrics. I am a member of the Division of Internal Medicine’s Anti-Racism Taskforce. I represent the School of Medicine on the Graduate School’s Certificate in Innovation for Public Good board. I served on the Pledge for Equity Council for UNC Health. I am a study section member for UNC’s TraCS Institute.

Candidate Statement

As a faculty member, I must contribute my time, expertise, and professional experience to furthering the mission of the University. That mission includes “to foster the success and prosperity of each rising generation” and “to enhance the quality of life of all people in the State.” I plan to accomplish this mission and serve those in my academic community and beyond through this position. I direct two Centers, one focusing on research/education and the other on evaluation/data services. I manage/mentor 60+ full-time staff and students. I lead multiple federally funded, cross-institutional, and community-engaged research projects. I have taught multiple undergraduate and graduate courses at UNC, emphasizing practical applications beyond the classroom. I have the expertise and motivation to serve on this council successfully.
