UNC Service
I have had the privilege to serve on the Education Policy committee for the last three years, including the last two years as Chair. I am a member of the Microbiology and Immunology Education and Teaching Committee and I have also regularly served on a number of teaching award committees (chair of the BOG award last year).
Candidate Statement
I am passionate about endeavoring to help both students and faculty have all the tools they need to succeed in a world that seems to get more challenging every year. I am confident that my experience in the EPC can allow me to be a stronger advocate for university policies that foster the success of both faculty and students.
In my own teaching, I strive to empower students by actively seeking out teaching methods that are inclusive and accessible to all. I have been awarded the Teaching Excellence Award from the UNC School of Medicine. I have also received the Johnston Teaching Award for excellence in undergraduate teaching twice.
I would be honored to serve a second term and continue contributing to the committee's vital work.
