UNC Service
It has been an honor to serve as a member of the Faculty Council for the past 3 years. Before serving on Faculty Council, I served on the Educational Policy Committee for six years, including 2 years as EPC chair. It has been incredibly fulfilling to support the development of educational policies I believe will expand opportunities for students and offer greater support for their success. I thoroughly enjoyed collaborating with student government, faculty council and other faculty governance groups in these efforts.
Candidate Statement
As a former high school science teacher, the level of care I dedicated to my younger students continues to guide my teaching and service work at UNC. Students earn their way into UNC by being one of the best students at their high schools. Since NC high schools vary greatly in the amount of resources they have, however, some students arrive at UNC more prepared for the rigor of college work than others. If I am elected, I will be thinking about our students and how to provide the support they need to continue to succeed. In addition, I will seek to highlight the essential roles fixed-term faculty play in supporting UNC’s excellence. Finally, I am eager to support initiatives that can make the Carolina community a safe and more inclusive environment for all faculty and students.
