2024 Faculty Election

Chad Bryant

Running for: Administrative Board of the Library: Social Sciences
UNC Service

Over the years I have taken great pleasure in being an active and engaged citizen of the university, serving on advisory boards of the Curriculum in Global Studies; the Center for European Studies; the Center for Slavic, Eurasian, and East European Studies; and the Institute for the Arts and Humanities, respectively. I was the History Department’s Director of Graduate Studies from 2014-2107 (and again 2020) and as a member of the department’s Executive Committee during that same period. I became the History Department’s liaison with King’s College London (KCL) shortly after the university’s strategic partnership with KCL began in 2005.

Candidate Statement

I am running for this position because I firmly believe in the UNC-Chapel Hill library system and the people within it. As a crucial container and disseminator of knowledge, our libraries are also some of the most vibrant public spaces on campus, if not the state. My students and I have benefited immensely from the libraries and their hard-working, innovative staff over the years. I see this service position as an opportunity to give back while learning something new.
