UNC Service

I have served on numerous committees within my department, and on several UNC-wide positions. Among the latter, I served for seven years on the Board of Governors at the UNC Press and for three years on the faculty advisory board for the Ackland Museum. I have also served the university as director of the Office of Distinguished Scholarships for five years, helping undergraduates, graduate students, and alumni find nationally competitive scholarships and fellowships to fit their ambitions. I've worked on making this information more easily accessible for students and built a searchable database of these opportunities at www.strive.unc.edu.

Candidate Statement

From my work on the UNC Press Board of Governors, and through establishing a library liaison for the Office of Distinguished Scholarships, I am aware of some of the challenges and opportunities that technology offers the world of publishing and research. I think I can help with some of these transitions as an interdisciplinary bibliophile, who is also literate in technology.
