While I have served the University Libraries and therefore UNC in numerous capacities over the years, I have never done so in a campus-wide role.
Candidate Statement
In my nearly fifteen years with the University Libraries it has been my pleasure and privilege to work in a variety of roles. I currently head the Preservation Department and two sections in the catalog department, and report to both Special Collections and Technical Services. My experiences have brought me into contact with nearly every section in the Libraries, generally with regard to collection management, and I intend to use that all-around familiarity to inform a holistic approach to representing the University Libraries on Faculty Council. One bit of experience I am lacking, however, is exactly how the University outside of its Libraries operates; I am running for Faculty Council to find out, and in hopes I can help it run as well as it may in as fraught a time as I have ever seen at UNC.
