UNC Service

I have been at UNC-Chapel Hill since my first day of college. I fell in love with the campus, my mentors, and, most importantly, the culture. I continued my Carolina education at the School of Medicine, followed by an Emergency Medicine Residency at UNC Hospitals. Now, as a faculty member of 10 years, my love for UNC has only grown stronger. I am the Emergency Medicine Residency Program Director, since 2015. Within my department, I am also the Director of Faculty Development and Associate Chair of Academic Affairs. I serve on several other communities including Diversity and Inclusion and Graduate Medical Education.

Candidate Statement

Having been on campus for over 20 years, I am excited about the opportunity to give back and serve the University. I hope to bring innovation and passion to the Council in order to improve the educational environment and keep UNC at the forefront of public education. The pandemic has brought on new challenges in education, work, and life, but it has also opened doors to new ways of leading and teaching as well as fast-tracked innovations and change. At the heart of the UNC culture is the mission to serve the people of North Carolina, a very diverse and shifting population with unique needs. As an institution, we need to reach all those communities, understand their challenges, and create new programs and systems to better serve the people. I would love this opportunity to serve the University and the people of North Carolina.
