UNC Service

My service contributions to UNC focus on a commitment to making higher education more equitable and inclusive. I am currently a member of the School of Nursing (SON) Strategic Plan Steering Committee and am the Faculty Advisor United We Stand, a student organization with a social justice lens. I am also a Faculty Co-Advisor for the SON Pride Interest Group and the Faculty Advisor for SHAC: Student Health Action Coalition. At the university level I am on the Executive Board of the Carolina Latinx Faculty Council.

Candidate Statement

As a Clinical Assistant Professor, I have an opportunity to teach across the undergraduate nursing curriculum and am passionate about learning from and with our amazing Carolina students. During their first semester, I interact with students participating in a course focusing on relationship-centered care and diversity, equity and inclusion. I am passionate about creating teaching and learning brave spaces where students feel included and have a sense of belonging. I view my service work through the same lens-providing our undergraduates with an equitable, engaging, and rewarding experience. Working on the Educational Policy Committee would be an opportunity to extend this focus beyond the School of Nursing.
