Candidate Statement

I have been on the UNC faculty since 2013, first as a fixed-term member before transitioning to the tenure track in 2018. I have served in a variety of departmental committees and have come to appreciate the many challenges facing students, faculty and staff at UNC. Serving on the faculty council would be a great opportunity to collaborate with different colleagues across the university to address challenges such as faculty retention, especially URM faculty who are at increased risk of flight resulting in loss of invaluable talent from UNC. I also hope to be part of the dialogue to address some of the roadblocks in promoting talented junior faculty through the ranks, and be a voice for students and staff and their concerns.
