Candidate Statement

I am a nurse, a faculty member, a clinical professor, a member of the Faculty Executive Committee and a national as well as international known provider of learning initiatives regarding equity in academia, a collaborator and consultant on grants, stewarded many efforts that promote safe learning environments and workspaces. I have first-hand lived experience and knowledge of the university and the many issues faced over the past 20 years. Prior to my arrival at UNC, I have held positions in the corporate space in public policy and advocacy and served in 2017-2019 as president of the oldest national nursing professional organization in the country, the National League for Nursing which represents over 4,000 nurse-educators and 1200 schools of nursing. If elected, I will continue to boldly bear witness to truth and ask big questions.
